In the Islamic Republic of Iran many artists’ dreams get thwarted. For his whole life the painter Jamshid Aminfars has experienced a conflict between his calling and the demands of the world around him. Growing up his painting often leads to his getting beaten by his mom.

He marries a woman who mainly values his art for how much income it can provide. The perilous streets become Jamshid’s last stand. It is not until he meets the young French woman Alice that the tormented artist feels understood and appreciated, quite simply admired by a woman for the first time in his life. He falls in love.

Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami’s debut film has been shown and awarded prizes at several international film festivals. A third of it is told with animations in the same style as Jamshid’s paintings. We are given a window into what the painter who has been called “Iran’s Van Gogh” wishes to say with his art.
